Job Title: Software Engineer V

Location: Houston TX 77002

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Skill Level: Mid-Level (5-8 yrs exp.)

Description:

Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software programming applications.
Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems.
Manages, validates connectivity, and initiates firewall requests for new VMs (Virtual Machines).
Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 5-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

ADDITIONAL NOTES FROM HIRING MANAGER:

Resource needed to support install on new VMs, as several hundred new VMs are being added, and upgrade to Windows 2016.
Will ping servers and ensure servers are configured correctly/that software is loaded correctly.
Monitoring 100+ servers, helping with deployments, configuring new VMs with applications, moving code to various servers.
Will create firewall rules to open up connectivity.
More of a Systems Engineer than a Developer.
Will work with QAs, Firewall Engineers, Networking Engineers, etc. and act as a channel between the internal teams and developers.
All VM testing to be completed in 6 months.
Scripting experience is nice to have, but not a requirement.
.NET experience (not required, but nice to have) and general networking knowledge.
Experience with AppDynamics, DataPower nice to have.
Must be self-motivated, proactive, able to work without much direction, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
