Job Title: Analytics/BI Developer

Location: Houston TX 77030

Type: 3 to 6 Months Contract

Job Description

This position serves as a technical analyst and developer in delivering BI solutions to various end-users; providing them with the ability to make more informed business decisions. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, development, coordination, application and report development/customization, testing and ongoing support of customer BI reporting and analytic needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Participates in all Business Intelligence (BI) activities related to data warehouse development methodology.
2. Designs, develops, tests, and maintains ETL jobs for data warehousing and electronic data exchange (EDI) efforts.
3. Designs and develops data warehousing applications, reports, and data exchange (EDI).
4. Proactively communicates and collaborates with business users to analyze information needs, develops functional requirements and proposes solutions to complex problems utilizing business and technical knowledge.
5. Provides support and issue resolution by analyzing issues, discovering root cause and providing alternative long-term solutions.
6. Improves and streamlines processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability and value.
7. Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Qualifications:

1. Experience with Epic is a plus.
2. Education equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience.
3. Five or more years of software development and data analysis experience, demonstrating a detailed knowledge and understanding of BI functions such as analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, Data Exchange (EDI), and ETL processes and data modeling.
4. Relevant software development experience utilizing Microsoft .Net framework, Microsoft SQL Server, TSQL, C#, VB.Net, XML, HTML, DHTML, and JavaScript.
5. Proven history delivering within project scope and timing constraints.

Demonstrates familiarity and some working knowledge of each of the following:

1. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008.
2. Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
3. Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services.
4. Microsoft Windows 2003 or higher.
5. Microsoft Office 2003 or higher (focus on Excel and Access).
6. ETL Design concepts.
7. Dimensional Modeling.
8. ETL Design and Implementation.
9. Information delivery options to end-users and external users (EDI).

Demonstrated familiarity and working knowledge of the following are a plus:

1. Qlikview.
2. Biztalk.
