About the Position

The B.I. Developer contributes to the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications, and works closely with senior developers to gain hands-on experience in coding, debugging, and system integration. The B.I. Developer I provides support in documentation and testing related to these work products. The performance of this role is key toward assisting Legacy in measuring and improving performance around organizational metrics and business goals.

Key Contributors will:

  • Assist in writing, testing, and debugging code in accordance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior developers to understand technical specifications and business needs.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to maintain high coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic software defects and performance issues.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including user guides, system design documents, and API specifications.
  • Support the integration of third-party APIs and services into applications.
  • Assist in maintaining version control and deployment processes.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in software development.

Our roots began in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, with specialization in HIV education, testing, and treatment. Since then, the agency has expanded to >50 clinics in Houston, one in Baytown, 3 in Beaumont, and one in Deer Park with extensive services that include: Adult primary care, HIV/AIDS care, pediatrics, OB/GYN and maternity, dental, vision and behavioral health. We also service students within KIPP and YES Prep schools. Legacy is committed to driving healthy change in our communities.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, C#).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Having the willingness and capacity to actively pursue further professional certifications or trainings assigned for work requirements.
  • Actively adjusting and evolving to new circumstances and developments, embracing them as opportunities for personal or professional development.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Epic certification is required; if not already certified, must complete at least three Epic certifications within six months of hire.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps best practices.
  • Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, C#).
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
